UTM – Universiti Berautonomi Penuh

Bersama-sama memacu kecermelangan IPT Negara.

Facts : Why do we resist change?

Hello there! I have some facts to share. Based on my reading, there are five most possible causes why does people resist change which they are:

  1. Selective attention and memory
  2. Habit
  3. Fear of the unknown
  4. Security & Regression
  5. Dependence

Whatever the cause of resistance and whatever its source, the important thing is to understand that it exists and that it can have a real, negative impact on the introduction of change.Wise leaders will try to identify the reasons for resistance to change and try to see how they can limit their effect and eliminate them where possible rather than pretend that they are only of limited importance.
